When you’re depressed, the thought of exercise can seem too much. You are probably feeling exhausted and overwhelmed most of the time and you just can’t be bothered. The last thing you want to do is get out and move your body on top of all of that stress. Depression can make you freeze in place or panic just thinking about exercise, but you know what I’m going to say: exercise is one of the best things you can do for yourself if you want to be free of that heavy, dark feeling.
Working out promotes happiness by reducing stress and raising feel-good hormones, and it can prevent further episodes of depression. You don’t have to do hour-long workouts that exhaust the body. Just start small, five to ten minutes, and if that leads to more movement, wonderful, but know that you only need to take one small step at a time. Do not beat yourself up if you can only manage a few minutes. The key is consistency, as you won’t get the benefits if you only exercise sporadically.
Our bodies are designed to move and to be active, but sometimes life gets in the way and exercise goes out the window. The workouts in the mind gym are quick, effective and they get RESULTS. All the workouts take less than 20 minutes. Some workouts are only 8 minutes long! 8 minutes! Who doesn’t have eight minutes to dedicate to their mind health? Just Do It. I know you can. Need help?
