6 Small Steps To A Pure And Natural Life
For most of us life has become increasingly hectic, we run households, bring up children, nourish relationships, blend families, build businesses and careers and try to manage financial pressures, then feel guilty if we don’t get it all done. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Often we think that this is how our lives must be, at this age and stage. One day in the future we tell ourselves we will feel at peace, we will have enough time, we won’t be rushing and robbing ourselves of the beauty of today.
The true solutions to a life of peace, calm and contentment are simple lifestyle habits. Being healthy and well doesn’t need to be a challenge, keep it simple and natural with these six steps:
1. Stop…… take time out and enjoy the moment
We all get caught up in the busyness of life and forget that life is happening in this very moment. When you stop and live in the moment you enjoy the little things, like stopping and really giving your child your full attention when they talk. Be a kid again and have a giggle and a play around with your child. Stop and take time out for a glass of wine or a chat with a partner when they get home. Stop and really take in a beautiful day, view, or a moment with a loved one. The stress of a hectic day at work is forgotten after curling up in bed and reading/cuddling with your child. Take time to tuck them in instead of rushing for a favourite TV programme or to get work done.
These simple, natural moments send positive messages to your mind and body, and you feel happy and calm.
2. Do something for yourself daily.
Our bodies have sensory receptors that respond to external stimuli. Play beautiful music to soothe your soul, have flowers in the house to delight you and light candles to lift your spirits. A warm blanket relaxes you, a delicious meal satisfies you and a Yoga or Stretch routine balances you.
3. Get outside in nature
Sunshine on your back, the sound of crashing waves on the shore, walking barefoot on grass, listening to birds or feeling the wind on your face are enough to create a sense of connection making you feel grounded and calm. Make sure you experience nature at least once a day.
4. Be grateful
Being thankful consistently and regularly makes you more positive, productive and solutions oriented. Write in a gratitude journal daily and create a sense of harmony and appreciation.
5. Know what your true priorities are
What are your real priorities? Family, friends, partner?
When you know what your true priorities in life are, and give time to these priorities above other commitments, you are rewarded with a sense of peace and harmony.
Make exercise a priority and make the time for a brisk walk or a workout and you will feel energised instead of tired and lethargic. Maybe incorporate the exercise with time with family and friends.
6. Learn to play.
This is what life is about. This is why we get our bodies strong so that we can play more. Don’t think of training as a punishment, think of it as fun. If you aren’t strong and healthy you can’t enjoy life. We need to include weight training into our routines, so that everyday tasks are easier. This is why we include interval training and flexibility routines into our training, so that we can play a game of touch with some friends or play a soccer game with our kids.
We need to move more so we can live our lives. Start to explore and find something you are passionate about, then use your training to get yourself fit so that it’s enjoyable. Maybe you want to try surfing, snowboarding or paddle boarding or golf. These sports will be easier with a strong and balanced body. Find something you would like to try and go for it!
