We often hear about the physical benefits of eating a good diet, but did you know that eating a healthy diet could also have a positive impact on your mood? A diet high in plant foods, with sustainable meat and seafood, nuts, and good-quality fats, could help stave off depression.

We at Her Mind are fascinated by the food and mood connection. It’s amazing and empowering to find out that what you eat can have such a profound effect on your mental health. We have the power to revolutionise our own health, vitality, and happiness. We believe that eating clean, whole, natural real food is best for your mind health. We encourage you to truly listen to your body and pay close attention to how you feel when you eat or exclude certain foods. Notice your mood. Notice what foods make you feel good and help you sleep better.

On our site we have some recipes to help you on your way to good mind fitness. These recipes are all based around clean eating and real nutrient rich food. All the recipes are made using ingredients that are as close to their natural state as possible. We use one-ingredient foods, no long label ingredient lists, additives and preservatives and ingredients you can’t say or spell. Our meals are made using meat, seafood, vegetables, eggs, fruit, nuts and seeds, fermented foods and good quality fats. Buy organic if possible or where you can. Our recipes are gluten, dairy and refined sugar free.

Depression affects many people worldwide, so it’s vital we start looking after the health of our brains. Nutrition plays a major role in brain health, so we should be selecting foods that specifically nourish the brain. Certain types of food actually contain essential nutrients for good mental health, and deficiencies can worsen mental disorders such as depression. Food is a powerful medicine with potent healing properties.
